Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Welcome to Bearback. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to bearbackgear.com (our shop), the Bearback Tribe website and app at bearbacktribe.com, and any related services, including our automated assistant "Bruce" (together, the "Services"). Throughout, "Bearback," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Bearback, based in Anaheim, California.

Bearback is built to welcome all tribes. We don't assume anything about who you are, and we take your privacy seriously. We only collect what we need to run the shop and the community well, and we do not sell your personal information. As we grow the Bearback universe, this policy will evolve — we'll always keep the current version posted here.

If you have questions at any time, email us at support@bearbackgear.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, information created when you use the Services, and information from a few trusted partners who help us operate.

Information you give us:

  • Contact and account details — name, email address, phone number, and a password if you create an account.
  • Order and shipping details — the products you buy, your shipping address, and order history.
  • Payment details — processed securely by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal, or Klarna). We do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
  • Tribe profile and membership details — your username, profile information, membership or subscription tier, and anything you choose to post or share in the community.
  • Age-verification information — where required, information used to confirm you meet the minimum age for that Service (see Section 8). This is typically handled by a third-party verification provider on our behalf.
  • Communications — messages you send us, including support emails, chat messages, reviews, and feedback.

Information collected automatically:

  • Device and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and how you interact with the Services.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 3.

Information from Bruce (our automated assistant): When you chat with Bruce, we process the messages you send so Bruce can respond and point you to products or answers. Please don't share sensitive personal information (such as financial account numbers or health details) in a Bruce chat — it isn't needed to help you, and Bruce's responses are general information, not professional advice.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Process and deliver your orders, and provide customer support.
  • Create and manage your account, Tribe profile, and membership or subscription.
  • Confirm eligibility and age where required.
  • Operate, personalize, and improve the Services, including Bruce.
  • Send you transactional messages (order updates) and, with your consent, marketing emails you can opt out of at any time.
  • Keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

3. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies (like pixels and web beacons) to keep the site working, remember your preferences, understand how the Services are used, and support marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through the cookie banner on our site. Some features may not work properly without certain cookies.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us operate — for example, Shopify (our store platform and host), payment processors, shipping and package-protection partners (such as Route), age-verification providers, email and analytics providers, and hosting for Tribe. They may only use your information to perform services for us.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Bearback, our customers, or others.
  • Business transfers — if Bearback is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.
  • With your consent — any other sharing you direct or approve.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Services. After that, we generally retain it for up to 24 months, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law (for example, order, tax, and accounting records may be kept for up to 7 years). When we no longer need your information, we delete or anonymize it, or securely isolate it if immediate deletion isn't possible (for example, in backups).

6. Your Privacy Rights

You may review, update, or delete your account information at any time, or ask us to do it for you by emailing support@bearbackgear.com. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, and to opt out of marketing or certain data uses. We will respond as required by applicable law and won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

California residents: Under California law, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, request deletion, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. To make a request, email us at the address above.

7. Do-Not-Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond, we do not currently respond to these signals. If a standard is adopted, we will update this policy.

8. Age Requirements and Children's Privacy

Our Services are for adults. The Bearback shop is intended for people 18 and older, and Bearback Tribe is intended for people 21 and older. Where required, we (or a verification partner) may ask you to confirm or verify your age before granting access. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under these ages. If you believe someone under the applicable age has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Data Storage and International Transfers

Our servers and the providers we use are located in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. We take reasonable steps to protect your information consistent with this policy and applicable law.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to keep your information safe.

11. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Bearback grows and as laws change. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll provide a more prominent notice. Please check back from time to time.
